Our Vision
Our vision is for young men and women to graduate from Highland Rim Academy transformed by the gospel and sharpened by rigorous academic pursuit, for the purpose of cultural reformation and a life committed to servant leadership.
We seek to do the following things as we educate each child:
Enroll like-minded families where Christian discipleship and academics are both prioritized in the home.
Encourage every child to develop his/her relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:15-20
Provide a clear model of biblical Christian life through our staff and board of directors. Matthew 22:37-40
Teach all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with Christ and His word at the center. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Encourage every student to develop a love for learning and to achieve his/her academic potential.
Emphasize grammar, logic, and rhetoric in all subject matter in keeping with the classical model of the Trivium.
Establish and maintain a high standard of behavior through loving God and loving one's neighbor.
Statement of Faith
We believe that the Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, perfect Word of God and the ultimate and infallible authority for faith and practice.
We believe in one living, Sovereign, and true God who is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in all His attributes. He is Creator of all things and exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal in power and glory, having the same essence, attributes, and perfections.
We believe that the eternal purpose of God extends to all events. Further, we believe that His purpose is holy, wise, altogether good, and does not deprive man of his responsibility, nor does it make God the author of sin. Before the foundation of the world, God the Father chose for Himself, in Jesus Christ, a people whom He gave to His Son that they should be holy and without blame before Him.
We believe that God created the world and all things out of nothing by His powerful Word, all for His own glory. Mankind and all life on earth did not evolve but were created by a direct act of God. Man was created in the image of God, male and female, to have fellowship with Him and to glorify and serve Him.
We believe that all men and women are born with a sin nature. By choice, our first parents, Adam and Eve, willfully disobeyed God and fell from fellowship with Him. Therefore, all men are sinners, spiritually dead, and separated from God.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father. He now intercedes for His church, rules over all things on her behalf, and continues His presence among His people through the agency of His Holy Spirit.
We believe that salvation is totally by God's grace, freely given by grace through faith to any individual who repents of his or her sin and trusts Christ as Savior. It is an unmerited gift to the believer that is wholly dependent upon the shed blood of Jesus.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally, bodily, and visibly at the end of the age to judge the world, both the living and the dead. We further believe in the bodily resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, the everlasting punishment of the unrighteous, and the everlasting happiness of the saints whom God has called to Himself in glory.
We believe the church is the body of Christ, of whom Christ is the Head. The local church serves the ordinary means of the edifying of the saints and the fulfilling of the Great Commission. We believe that Christ has ordained sacraments for the church in the present age. They are not in themselves means of salvation, but acts of obedience to our Lord and Savior. They are signs and seals of God's covenant of grace and are properly given to every member of the visible church.
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has prohibited intimate sexual activity outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, and attempting to change one’s biological sex or otherwise acting upon any disagreement with one’s biological sex) or advocacy of sexual immorality, is sinful and offensive to God.
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess, forsake, and repent their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity, regardless of their enrollment or employment standing with the school. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the policy of this school.
